Emin’s mother, Maya, was born, as the daughter of a prominent professor. She spent her early years in Ganja before moving to Baku in 1965, at 16 years of age. Upon graduating high school, she enrolled in AZI University and successfully graduated - becoming an engineer. She was focused on her education and professional work and did not think about having a family of her own until she met Nadir. Maya’s family always admired her courage, patience, talents, and inquisitive mind. It was thanks to her efforts that Emin started to study English at the age of 5; where - after work - Maya would take her young son to Supplementary English classes far away from where the family lived.
Throughout all periods of her marriage, Maya had always been a strong supportive wife and mother, in bad and good times; this created a strong matrimonial bond which became a sign of respect from other relatives and family friends. In the early 1990s when the country got its independence from Soviet Union (but was still under major pressure from Russia) the British Council established its presence in Baku; allowing opportunity to study in the Nottingham Trent University on the subject of Management. Maya, having been very interested in English culture and poetry, decided to participate in the program and became a student there simultaneously combining her work, family chores and education. This was clearly not an easy task. After completing this education, she continued to work in one of the major commercial companies of Azerbaijan in the field of HR. Maya is a good daughter, wife, mother, and grandmother. Her entire family are very proud of her, as she brings a unique energy to everything that happens within the Mammadov family. This has been of help to everyone.
