Arms and armor have been a vital part of the Azerbaijan material culture for centuries, pivotal not only in conquest and defense, but also in Shah's and Khan's court pageantry and related ceremonial events. Throughout time the best armor and weapons have represented the highest artistic and technical capabilities of the society and period in which they were made (internally as well as abroad), thus forming a unique aspect of our art history and material culture.
We believe that cultural objects belong together with the cultures that created them; these objects are a crucial part of contemporary cultural and political identity.
